AppleCare+ is Apple's extended warranty and insurance arm — the checkout question every iPhone buyer answers. Layered onto the old AppleCare protection plans in 2011, it added what warranties never covered: dropped screens and dunked phones, for a deductible far below repair price.

The program tracks the hardware's value curve: theft-and-loss coverage arrived as phones crossed $1,000, monthly auto-renewing plans replaced fixed terms, and 2025's AppleCare One bundled any three devices under one $19.99 subscription — warranty as a service, in the Apple One mold. For Apple it steadies services revenue and keeps repairs in-house; for buyers it prices peace of mind against the gamble of a naked titanium slab.
