The Apple A15 Bionic powered the iPhone 13 generation from September 2021 — and then, unusually, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus a year later, when Apple split the lineup's silicon by tier for the first time. Its GPU shipped in two bins (four cores for base models, five for Pros and later the 14 generation), and its efficiency cores drew the praise: the year's battery-life turnaround was substantially this chip.

The A15 became the most widely deployed Apple chip of its era — five iPhones, an iPad mini, an Apple TV — and its tier-split reuse founded the chip-behind strategy the lineup still runs. Benchmarks kept it ahead of contemporary Android flagships even in its hand-me-down year.
