The Apple S7 carried the S6's architecture forward unchanged into the Series 7 — a year when the news was the bigger, more durable display and faster charging, not the silicon. Like the S5 before it, the S7 found a second home in the smart speaker line, powering the second-generation HomePod of 2023.

The S7 marks the middle of the S series' quiet stretch: three generations on one core design while Apple's watch investment went into sensors, displays, and case sizes. Its HomePod role extended the pattern of retired-generation watch silicon anchoring Apple's home audio products.
