The Apple A14 Bionic was the first 5-nanometer chip in any consumer device, debuting in the iPad Air in September 2020 and the iPhone 12 generation a month later — 11.8 billion transistors, a Neural Engine doubled to sixteen cores, and the design that, widened to eight performance cores, became the M1 that ended Intel Macs.
