The Apple A10 Fusion, introduced with the iPhone 7 in September 2016, brought heterogeneous computing to the iPhone: two high-performance Hurricane cores paired with two efficiency cores, a hardware controller switching by workload — the big.LITTLE-style architecture template every Apple chip since has refined.
1 Legacy✎
The Fusion arrangement became the permanent grammar of Apple CPU design (today's chips still ship performance-plus-efficiency clusters), and the A10's long tail in budget iPads and the final iPod touch made it one of the most-manufactured Apple chips ever.
