The iPad Pro is the iPad's flagship and Apple's favorite launch vehicle: the tablet that debuted the Apple Pencil, premiered the Apple M4 before any Mac had it, and carried the Apple M5 on launch day. The current 11- and 13-inch models pair Tandem OLED displays with Mac-class silicon in Apple's thinnest device.

The original 12.9-inch Pro (2015) introduced the Pencil and Smart Keyboard — the productivity thesis in hardware. The 2018 redesign set the modern template: all-screen, Face ID, USB-C. The M1 Pro (2021) brought Mac silicon and mini-LED; 2024's M4 generation delivered the Tandem OLED panels, a 5.1-mm body thinner than any Apple product before it, and the Pencil Pro; October 2025's M5 refresh made the Pro one-third of the first M5 launch trio.

The Pro carries the iPad's oldest argument — that a tablet can be someone's whole computer — and iPadOS 26's windowed multitasking finally gave its hardware the software room it demanded. Until then and since, its other job never changed: showcasing Apple's newest display, silicon, and accessory technology a season before the rest of the lineup.
