Horse Training is the breeding and raising of mounts in Black Desert, a life skill that the game's own interface simply calls Training.
It is the longest of the life skills. A horse has to be caught or bred, ridden until it levels, and in most cases traded away or bred again. The animals at the top of the ladder take a great deal of work to reach.
The reward is transport rather than money, though a good horse sells for a lot. The best mounts move faster than anything else on land and carry abilities that ordinary horses do not, which matters in a world this large.
1 Getting a horse✎
There are two ways to start. Wild horses appear at set places in the wilderness and can be taken by taming, which is a matter of approaching without spooking the animal and then staying on it.
Breeding is the other route, and the one serious trainers rely on. A male and a female are bred at a stable keeper, and the foal's quality depends partly on the parents and partly on how skilled the trainer is. A higher training level improves both what breeding produces and how well a horse grows afterward.
2 Tiers✎
Ordinary horses are graded by numbered tier, running up through the eighth. Each step is faster and better than the one below it, and most adventurers never need to go past the middle of the range.
Above the ordinary horses the progression changes character. A horse at the top tier that has learned a particular set of seven skills becomes a Courser, and Courser training is the preparation stage rather than a destination.
A Courser that completes that training can attempt an awakening and be reborn as a Dream Horse. Three exist — Arduanatt, Diné and Doom — and each has its own abilities rather than simply better statistics.
Beyond even those are the Mythical horses. One is made by combining two Dream Horses of the same kind, which consumes both parents, so a Mythical horse costs two of the rarest animals in the game.
3 Selling✎
A trained horse can go to the Central Market like anything else, or through Imperial Horse Delivery once it reaches level fifteen.
The imperial route pays less than the market would. What it offers instead is certainty and speed, since the silver arrives immediately rather than waiting for a buyer, and the sale also returns the seals used for imperial training rewards.
