The '''Mercedes-AMG GT''' is a series of two-door [[sports car]]s made by the German car manufacturer [[Mercedes-AMG]]. It is the second sports car designed and built entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG, following the [[Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG|SLS AMG]]. Two generations have been produced since 2014: the first-generation C190 coupe and R190 roadster, and the second-generation C192 coupe.

The first generation went on sale in 2015 and grew into a large family of variants, topped by the track-focused GT R and the extreme GT Black Series. The second generation arrived in 2023 on a platform shared with the [[Mercedes-Benz SL-Class (R232)|R232 SL-Class]], adding 2+2 seating and all-wheel drive. Racing versions of the GT compete worldwide, and the car served for years as the official [[Formula One]] safety car.

= First generation (C190 / R190, 2014–2022) =

The original AMG GT was revealed on September 9, 2014 and went on sale in March 2015 in GT and GT S forms. It used a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout built around an aluminum spaceframe, powered by a 4.0-liter M178 twin-turbocharged V8. Over seven years the lineup expanded with the GT C, the GT R, the GT R Pro, and two roadster models.

The 2020 GT Black Series was the ultimate version, producing 720 hp from a flat-plane-crank development of the V8. In November 2020, it lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife faster than any road-legal production car before it. First-generation production ended in 2022, with the R232 SL-Class taking over from the GT Roadster.

= Second generation (C192, 2023–present) =

The second-generation AMG GT debuted on August 19, 2023 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California. Built on the same platform as the R232 SL, it is sold only as a coupe, now with 2+2 seating and standard all-wheel drive on V8 models. United States deliveries began in the spring of 2024, with the GT 55 starting at $136,050 and the GT 63 at $177,050.

The range spans the four-cylinder GT 43 to the plug-in hybrid GT 63 S E Performance, whose 831 hp makes it the most powerful AMG GT ever built.

= Motorsport =

Racing versions of the AMG GT compete in customer GT racing worldwide. The GT3 debuted in 2015, followed by the GT4 in 2017 and the GT2 in 2022, all based on the first-generation car. AMG GT road cars also served as the official Formula 1 safety car from 2015 through 2021, and the GT Black Series took over that role in 2022.
