1 Overview

Cactus Jack Records is an American record label and music publishing company founded by rapper Travis Scott on January 10, 2017. The label operates as an imprint in joint ventures with major labels including Epic Records, Atlantic Records, and Interscope Records. Its artists are collectively known as the hip-hop group JackBoys.

Scott founded the label with a stated mission of artist development rather than financial control. In an interview at the label's launch, he said: "I'm not doing it to have financial control over my music. First, I want to help other artists, launch new names, and provide opportunities."[1] The label also operates a publishing division, Cactus Jack Publishing, which has signed producers including Canadian beatmaker WondaGurl (in a deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing) and DJ Chase B on the recording side.

As of 2025, the label's current roster includes Scott himself, Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, SoFaygo, Luxury Tax, and Wallie the Sensei. Former acts include Smokepurpp and Malu Trevejo. The label has released ten studio albums and two compilation albums, with multiple releases debuting at or near the top of the Billboard 200.

2 History

Since its founding in 2017 with just Travis Scott and DJ Chase B, Cactus Jack has grown into one of hip-hop's most prominent imprints, signing a string of breakout artists and placing multiple albums at the top of the Billboard 200.

2.1 2017–2018: Founding and early signings

Travis Scott announced Cactus Jack Records in March 2017. The label's first major release came in December 2017 with Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho, a collaborative album between Scott and Quavo of Migos, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

In February 2018, Sheck Wes was signed in a joint venture with Interscope Records and Kanye West's GOOD Music. Wes released his debut album Mudboy in October 2018, reaching No. 17 on the Billboard 200. That same month, Scott released his third studio album Astroworld, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the second-largest opening week of 2018. Don Toliver, who was featured on the Astroworld track "Can't Say," signed to the label in August 2018.

2.2 2019–2020: JackBoys and expansion

In December 2019, Scott released the label's first compilation album, JackBoys, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The project showcased the label's collective identity, with contributions from Scott, Toliver, Sheck Wes, and Chase B.

Don Toliver released his debut studio album Heaven or Hell in March 2020, peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. In April 2020, Scott and Kid Cudi released the single "The Scotts" under a duo of the same name. In July 2020, producer WondaGurl signed a worldwide publishing deal with Cactus Jack Publishing and Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

2.3 2021–2023: Don Toliver's rise, SoFaygo, and Utopia

In February 2021, SoFaygo signed to Cactus Jack around the time his single "Knock Knock" gained momentum. He released his debut album Pink Heartz in November 2022. Don Toliver continued his ascent with Life of a Don (October 2021), which charted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, followed by Love Sick (February 2023), which reached No. 8.

In July 2023, Scott released his fourth studio album Utopia, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — where it remained for five weeks — and received a nomination for Best Rap Album at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

Beyond music, the label expanded into fashion and lifestyle ventures. In June 2021, Scott announced a collaboration between Cactus Jack and Dior for a menswear collection. The label also launched Cactus Farms, a cannabis brand, in July 2021.

2.4 2024–2025: Hardstone Psycho, JackBoys 2, and new signings

Don Toliver released Hardstone Psycho in June 2024, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 76,500 first-week album-equivalent units, becoming his fastest-selling album.

In March 2025, Scott announced JackBoys 2, the label's second compilation album. In May, Wallie the Sensei — known for his feature on "Dodger Blue" from Kendrick Lamar's 2024 album GNX — was announced as the label's newest signing. Scott performed a one-off concert in Barcelona on May 10, 2025, debuting unreleased JackBoys 2 material, one day before the El Clásico match. In a collaboration with Spotify, Cactus Jack sponsored FC Barcelona's kit as a special edition for the match.

JackBoys 2 was released on July 13, 2025, featuring 17 tracks with appearances from Playboi Carti, Future, Yeat, GloRilla, Vybz Kartel, Tyla, Kodak Black, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again, among others. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.[2]
