The Arena of Solare is the one place in Black Desert where equipment does not decide the fight. Everyone entering is issued the same gear, so a match turns on class knowledge and execution rather than on how many years a player has spent enhancing a weapon.
That is a deliberate answer to a specific complaint. Open-world combat and node wars reward the player who has ground longer, and the arena exists so that skill can be measured without that advantage.
It is three against three, and it opens only to characters that have reached level 60 and finished their awakening or succession line, which is the point at which a class is complete.
Players are handed a standard set called Resolute gear on entry. The only equipment decision left is which crystals to slot before a match, so preparation matters without becoming an arms race.
The restrictions go further than gear. Potions, meals, elixirs and perfumes are all barred, and any food or elixir already running is paused at the door and resumes afterward. Certain skills are adjusted for the format as well.
Ranked play also forbids duplicate classes on a team, so a side cannot stack three of whatever is strongest that season. Practice matches allow it.
The arena runs in seasons rather than continuously. A set of placement matches fixes a starting score, and players climb through seven ranked tiers from the lowest up to Solare Incarnate at the top of the scale.
Rewards come in two forms. Seals of Solare are earned from matches and exchanged for consumables, materials and currency, while finishing a season pays out titles, name frames and gold bars scaled to the tier reached.
Matches are fought in a rotation of arenas rather than a single ring, and the rotation has widened as the mode has aged. Olun's Valley, the upper Gyfin Rhasia Temple, the Kermelun Wilds and the Neftak Outpost have all served, with newer grounds added season by season.
