The '''Red Battlefield''' is the game's drop-in player battle. An adventurer joins from the menu at any time, is assigned to a side on arrival, and fights for fifteen minutes with no group to assemble beforehand.

The two sides carry names the setting has already argued over. One is the Black Desert and the other the Red Desert, which are [[Black Desert/Calpheon|Calpheon]]'s name and [[Black Desert/Valencia|Valencia]]'s name for the same stretch of sand. The battlefield restages the war the whole world is built on.

It opens at level 50, well before a character is finished, which makes it the first organized player combat most adventurers see.

= How a match runs =

Teams need five players a side to begin and hold up to thirty. Both sides score points during the fifteen minutes, and the higher total wins rather than the last side standing, so objectives matter as much as kills.

Equipment is handled with a floor rather than a ceiling. A character whose attack or defense falls below a set value has it raised to that value for the match, which lets an underequipped player contribute without flattening the advantage of someone genuinely well geared.

Nothing can be swapped once inside. Equipment is locked on entry, so the loadout a player arrives in is the one they fight with.

= Rewards =

Both sides are paid, though not equally. The winning team takes five Red Seals each and the losing team one, and skill experience goes to everyone regardless of the result.

That structure keeps losing matches worth playing, which matters for a mode that fills its teams from whoever happens to be queuing.
