Apple's second-generation Ultra Wideband chip — U2 is the community's shorthand, never Apple's — tripled the [[Apple U1|U1]]'s range when it arrived across the [[iPhone 15]] generation and the [[Apple S9]]-era Watches. Its headline trick is Precision Finding between devices: an iPhone can now point its owner to their Watch, and vice versa, through a house or a crowd.

Still current: every flagship iPhone and Watch since 2023 carries it, keeping the spatial layer of Find My, handoff, and car keys running at longer reach while the name "U2" remains strictly unofficial.
