The Apple A8 powered the record-breaking [[iPhone 6]] generation from September 2014 — a 25% CPU and 50% GPU step delivered at half the A7's power draw, the efficiency that funded the 6's thin design. It marked Apple's manufacturing pivot: the first Apple chip fabricated by TSMC, beginning the partnership that has built every Apple processor since.
