iPadOS 27 is the upcoming eighth release of iPadOS, announced at WWDC26 on June 8, 2026, and currently in beta — the developer build shipped with the keynote and the public beta followed on July 13, 2026, with release expected in fall 2026. As a pre-release version, details below reflect the beta and may change.
Like its sibling iOS 27, the release centers on Siri AI — the rebuilt assistant with its dedicated app, on-screen awareness, and in-app actions — arriving on the iPad with large-canvas layouts. The windowing system introduced in iPadOS 26 receives a refinement pass, Liquid Glass continues to tune, and the platform shares the generation's Photos (Spatial Reframing, Extend), Shortcuts, parental-controls, and performance work.
Siri AI and the Siri app; windowing and Exposé refinements; Photos' spatial and generative editing; Describe a Shortcut; the parental-control suite (Ask to Browse, Time Allowances, Schedules); and updates across Safari, Mail, Calendar, Home, and Maps. Apple states iPadOS 27 supports the same devices as iPadOS 26.
Beta coverage tracks the iOS 27 story — Siri AI's delivery against two years of promises — plus an iPad-specific thread: whether the windowing follow-through keeps the platform's newfound momentum. This page will need a rewrite at release.
