Tachy is a character in Stellar Blade, the 2024 action game developed by Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 5.[5] She is the commanding officer of the 7th Airborne Squad, the unit of the protagonist Eve, sent from the off-world Colony to reclaim Earth from the creatures known as the Naytiba. Official promotion introduced her as a decorated soldier with expertise in tactical and survival skills,[6] and the game's own Data Bank notes that her speed in the Colony's combat simulations was unmatched — "her name is Tachy for a good reason".[1]

Tachy leads the airborne descent that opens the game, and her fall in that opening battle is the moment the title card cuts in.[7] What becomes of her afterward is one of the game's central reveals.

1 Appearance✎

2 The descent on Eidos 7✎

The 7th Airborne Squad's landing craft come under Naytiba attack during atmospheric entry, and the squad that reaches the beach below the ruined city of Eidos 7 is cut apart on the landing zone. Tachy locates Eve amid the wreckage, and the two soon find they are the only survivors of their unit.[1][7]

Tachy guides Eve through the infested city — the stretch of the game released as its free demo, which runs from the opening up to the first boss fight.[8] Moments after that first victory, a far more powerful Naytiba blindsides the pair. With Eve down and unable to defend herself, Tachy throws herself in front of the blow, losing her left arm, and is then run through — the game's title card cutting in over the moment.[7] Eve is left to be rescued by the scavenger Adam and to carry the mission on alone.[5]

3 After the prologue✎

Everything below is a major spoiler for the second half of Stellar Blade.

Tachy is not gone. At the end of the facility called Matrix 11, Eve comes face to face with her former commander transformed into an Alpha Naytiba — her lost left arm replaced by a mass of Naytiba tentacle, her body fitted with mechanical legs, a golden cape, and a skeletal visor.[3]
The reunion is a boss battle fought in two phases: the first against Tachy's blade work and energy waves, the second against the corrupted arm itself, which she extends as a grappling weapon. When it ends, Tachy briefly comes back to herself. She dies in Eve's arms — her last words claiming Eve as "my Eve" — and leaves behind a Memorystick of her records.[3]
The game later attributes her corruption to Raven, a defector from the earlier 2nd Airborne Squad, who implanted an Alpha Core into Tachy's body; Adam suggests Raven was pursuing her own agenda in doing so.[4]
Tachy's speed outlives her. After the battle, Eve gains the Tachyon Blade and with it Tachy Mode, a temporary transformation state — activated once its dedicated gauge fills in combat — in which Eve fights with a burst of her commander's signature swiftness.[3] Defeating fifty enemies in this state earns the trophy "Revenging Agent".[9]

4 Promotion✎

Ahead of the game's April 26, 2024 release, Tachy featured prominently in official marketing.[5] Sony Interactive Entertainment and Shift Up released a character vignette dedicated to her on April 5, 2024, showing her fighting alongside Eve with her katana-like blade,[6] and the official motion comic prologue invites viewers to "join EVE and Tachy as they prepare for a vital mission".[5] The free demo released on March 29, 2024 contains her full living appearance in the game.[8]
